Notification of Positive COVID-19 Case at Y.A.L.E. School Philadelphia

October 29, 2020

Dear Parents & Guardians:

This letter is to inform you that an individual at Y.A.L.E. School Philadelphia has tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). This does not affect in-person instruction at any other Y.A.L.E. School campus.  The Y.A.L.E. School Administrative Team is working closely with public health officials and following federal, state, and local health department guidance to ensure the health and safety of our community.

If your student is determined to have had close contact with anyone who tested positive for COVID-19, you will be notified directly via email or a phone call. We ask for your patience as we complete our investigation and outreach. No further action is required if you do not receive additional notification.

Cleaning and disinfecting of all exposed areas is underway.  In addition, our campus takes systematic precautions to prevent the introduction and spread of viruses and other germs through air purifying equipment installed in common areas and nurses offices.  Y.A.L.E. schools are also cleaned on a regular schedule by professional services using processes and products advised by the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) to mitigate COVID-19 transmission risks.

The status of this situation is fluid, and we are monitoring it closely.  We encourage parents, guardians and students to continue following the safeguards promoted by the CDC, such as:

  • Staying home when you are sick
  • Washing hands often with soap for at least 20 seconds
  • Covering coughs and sneezes and properly disposing of tissues
  • Limiting close contact with people who are sick and not sharing food, drinks and utensils
  • Practicing social distancing (staying at least 6 feet apart)
  • Wearing a face covering while out
  • Continuing to monitor your health for symptoms

We appreciate the support and cooperation of our Y.A.L.E. School family. The health of our students, staff and their families is our number one priority. Please assist us by remaining vigilant, but sensible, in your approach to dealing with this health concern. Below are some resources that might be helpful to you.
